Taking the bus is the cheapest was of traveling around big cities, but not always the most convinient. Taxis are not expensive.

This is certainly the most relaxing way to get around in fascinating Ecuador.

Taxis and buses are the best transpotation and very cheap also
I flew from Panama City to Guayaquil, Ecuador. It was pretty cheap.
In Quito, use the Trolley, a tramway. Cost 0,20 $ !!!Herebye : A Station.

Always take a Taxi it costs $1U.S. most of the time.
Use taxi is cheap (similar than Peru fares)Use bus is cheap and relatively safe.
If you're into an adventure, don't miss riding on top of the local buses (chevas). They can be bumpy a bit frightenning at times, but a good view and a good way to meet the locals.
