A sturdy rucksack, with emergency supplies is an excellent idea.
You never know what the weather might bring, even if it's sunny when you start out.
Wet weather and cold weather gear is a required option. It can blow a gale, bringing snow, sleet and hail along with it.
A comprehensive first aid kit could be a life saver if you decide to go off on your own.
Take a good camera, with a log lens if you have one. Some of the wildlife you will see in the distance might not be there when you get close.
Be prepared for bad weather and you wont go far wrong. Chapped lips and cold fingers and toes can be painful, so at least carry the right equipment. Leave a Comment

Be prepared for every possible weather condition .. often all on the same day. Waterproofs, fleece and a windproof .. especially a windproof .. it is VERY windy here.
Sunblock, no the Falklands are not the hottest sunniest location in the world but the hole in the ozone layer and the strong winds mean that it doesn't have to feel hot before you burn.
There is much to photograph here, if you are into wildlife there is ample opportunity to see penguins, sea lions, elephant seals. Make the most of your visit and go out and take photos! There are not very many places that sell film however (especially if you're in 'camp' i.e outside Stanley) so it's best to bring your own supply. Leave a Comment

Soft bags are easier for flights between the Islands
Be prepared for all four seasons in one day -- At any time of year.
Limited supplies of these available but if you need any special medication bring it with you.
bring plenty of spare batteries they are in short supply here. Long Zoom lenses are not really required, the wildlife is very unafraid and will come really close if you are patient. 240 Volt mains is available at all Lodges for recharging batteries etc.
Be Prepared for absolutely anything.
If Communication is important to you, Bring a Satellite Telephone. Normal phones are available at all Lodges (at a PRICE)but there is no mobile system in place. Leave a Comment
