Of course, everyone who comes to Stanley or the Falklands in general knows about the landmines still existing in various areas. Left over remnants from the Falklands War in the 80's left lots of landmines still buried without ever going off. But fear not, areas containing mines are usually fenced off with signs warning you like the one in the picture I took here. You'd have to be a idiot to actually disobey what they say. Common sense yo! If you see a fenced off area beware!
There are still some 25000 unexploded mines on the Falkland Islands - hence take caution if you wander off into the bushes. Most areas are sign posted - so if you see red triangles warning of mines in the area - take caution!!
Certain areas of the islands are used for life shootings - if you see red flags and warning signs do not walk into the area since their is military training taking place.
