Cafe Bohemia: Nice place for hang out

A wood-paneled place adorned with Brazilian and Paraguayan art works, the vibe is due in part to abundant music and videos from the 1970s and '80s. Pizzas, snacks and a range of beverages abound.

Mouse Cantina, Coyote, Pub Britania: Party til the sun comes up

by tequilagirl Updated Jul 11, 2004

As with all Latin American countries, Paraguay's nightclubs are empty until midnight. They there are hopping until the wee hours of the morning. My three favourite spots were:
Mouse Cantina - Really big dancefloor, great music, good crowd! This is somewhere you would go to dance!
Pub Britania - If you are a Guinness lover like I am, don't get your hopes up. This is a great pub to sit and drink with friends and perhaps play a game of Jenga.
Coyote - Very cool place with three bars in one!! There is a "Rock" bar, a "dance" bar, and an "ambient" bar. This is a little pricier than the other places, but a really fun experience!

'Choperia' is basically a place where beer is sold. This is a relaxed place where you can have a pizza, an ice-cream or a sandwich at 3.00 AM after dancing in a club. There's a karaoke quite popular with patrons

La Estacion and The Pub across the road
La Estacion is a great nightspot if you like to dance, drink, meet the locals and love Spanish and Brazilian music.
The pub across the road from La Estacion is owned and run by Paraguayan Australians. The Wood family own and run the pub and is very like any pub/ night spot you would find in Sydney so it's a good place to go if you are missing home or if you are just interested in finding out what the hell are Australians doing living in Encarnacion (and yes both Willy and Warren still have their Aussie accents)
Basically if you go out in Paraguay remember that people do not go out dancing until after midnight, sometimes not until 2am. So if you want to have a good time, mix with lots of locals and dance like crazy (by God they can dance) then stay at a Pub until about the witching hour before making a move to go boogey.

Dress Code: Paraguayans like to dress up (at least by Australian standards - we tend to be very casual when we go out)
