the colours of Paraguay

by pepples46

travel as light as you can, but these days... take care of your belongings very hot and high humitity, good shoes when walking all day, natural fabric clothing, light colours, white would be great, mosquitos for some reason or other don't like it or maybe can't see it. medical kit, when in the countryside is a very good idea..small torch, or candles, lighter. some energy food would be good. try fruits and nuts. sunflower kernels and dont forget the water!!! lots of accommodation is so cheap and I would like to advice against camping...free camping that is. you do the math Paraguay is known for the place where counterband is a way of daily life, therefor you can get anything you like.but be aware and know what you doing when buying off and from street vendors, especially.......watch your money, even more importand, watch your change. only new notes will do, not ripped ones,...

Packing List

Carry as little as you can. A backpack is enough. Anything that you need can be found or made there. (Unless you are REALLY huge and, even if you are, clothes can be made, but shoes over size 61 European or 11 US might be a problem). Carry your own prescription medicine, but if you forget it then just about anything is available there. Any film or battery is available. (Except Kodachrome) A light rainjacket is a good idea. Bring 100% Deet.

I guess is better to bring a hard suitcase with a good, safe lock. However make it easy to open it yourself. The first is reducing risk of theft by baggers the second to make it easy for the custom policeman who will check your bags sometimes even twice. Took almost 3 full minutes with my CD bag Asuncion is unbearably hot (up to 95 F/ 35 C) and humid during summertime (January-February). The rest of the year is quite confortable. Nevertheless, temperatures could change in matter of minutes during the winter. Bring lots of cottons (or even better buy them here) and if you visit from May-October, bring a light jacket. The best way to enjoy Asuncion is by foot so bring anything comfortable for them. You can replace any of your toiletries while in Asuncion but don' t count on it if you travel to more remote, simple towns on the interior.Same aplies to medication. In fact, you could get many...

No matter the time of year it is hot and often humid. This is especially true here with the enormous body of water so nearby. Cottons, not polyesters, will be the most comfortable. Local people here and in other warm weather countries have a material for men's slacks which is very comfortable and seems to keep one cooler. So it might not be a bad idea to drop into a local men's clothing store or ask a concierge where he gets his clothing. Near as we could tell, the available items were plentiful and many prescription medicines are over the counter here. Then again, the life expectancy of a Paraguayan is only 73.5. Don't stay too long. Never press your luck. VISIT ITAIPU DAM
