Confiteria Bolsi by eduar68 Inside a 19th-century house and operated by the same family since 1960. For years Bolsi and Lido Bar compited for lunchtime clients. Then, one day, Bolsi became a bit more chic and it divesified with Fast-Food mini-Bolsi's at a few shopping malls. Now Lido Bar (See tip) is kind of more popular and traditional and Bolsi more modern. Chef Valiente loves mediterranean cuisine and adapts them with local ingredients. Try surubi, a local river fish.
Surubi recipies Any kind of meats are always a safe and great bet in Paraguay Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Estrella 399 esquina AlberdiPhone: 021/491 841Directions: Downtown, close to panteon de los heroesWebsite: www.bolsi.com.py

Hotel-Restaurante Jardin Aleman by eduar68 About 15 miles west of Asuncion, on the road to Iguazu Falls, is this little roadside hotel and restaurant. Like many others in all Paraguay, it is owned by german inmigrants and they combine local products with german specialties. The restaurant has a very complete buffet. For those returning from a short trip to Caapupe or San Bernardino, this place is a very convenients restop.

Located close to the shopping area of Villa Morra, Paulista Grill is heaven for those who like BBQ and hell for those with high cholesterol. Compared to North America or Europe, meat is comparatively very cheap. The very best meat cuts can be bought at the local market for little more than $1 per pound or 2 Euros per kilo. And quality is, truly, superior to ours. This churrasquería has been staying on this location for years with identical success. It is part of a brazillian chain. The offer ample premises and private rooms.
The buffet has different kinds of salads, rice, grains, pasta and cold cuts of meats. Do not exagerate here!! You need space in your belly for the meat My favorite local meat cuts are Tapa (de cuadril) Vacio Picaña (with and without garlic) Sausages Leave a Comment Theme: BarbecuePrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Avda. by eduar68 Lido Bar is located just across "Panteon de los Heroes". From the sidewalk cafe you can watch the two fully gala dressed, pike armed soldiers (helmet included) who guard the entrance. This spot is very popular with locals from nearby offices and banks. It's almost imposible to get one of the outside tables or a stool at the bar at noon!!. Better to wait until 1.30 or 2.00 PM. I don't think there's tables inside but other than that the best description I can get is a classical downtown diner.

A wonderful property surrounded by gardens, ideal frame for a genuine Mexican cuisine. Start with quesadillas, tacos al pastor, fried cheese continue with popocatopelt, malcajete cielo mar y tierra (shrimps, chicken, lomito meat and onions) and the typical enchiladas with mole poblano. Crepes with "dulce de leche" is a good end to a memorable meal. Executive menu available at lunch time. There are many italian restaurants in Asuncion. I just love this one. Relaxed atmosphere, good service and a good dose of romanticism. This small eatery has whitewashed walls and wooden beams. The wine is reasonably priced and feature italian, argentinean and chilean wines mostly.
SCALOPE DI MAIALE ROSSO Pork Scallopini in Red Wine Sauce The scallopini are also stuffed with ham and cheese FRITELLE Ice Cream stuffed Crepes with an Amaretto-Chocolate sauce, covered in nuts Do I need to explain this....? MMMM!!! Leave a Comment

The ONLY Mexican food restaurant in Asunción. Their chef is from Mexico, and the food is excellent. It's not Tex-Mex like we are used to being from Texas, but it's great none the less. can be bought everywhere, best chipa ( cheepa) from the Streetvendors. just today I got a reminder from a Forum question, whats the food like in Paraguay, and that jogged my memory. I googled a bit and found this webpage for paraguayan recipes
chiperias are made from starch, paraguayan cheese (colonial cheese, has quite a strong taste when eaten pure), milk and corn. chiperias are especially on the menue in the weeks leading up to Christmas...la semana santa Leave a Comment

Cuja with Bomba...Bombilla (spanish ) by pepples46 as in the many South American Countries, Mate is a substancial and essential Beverage as well as a healthy brew. good for the intestins, cleansing of and antioxidant, a natural diaretic, anti-fatique and anti-stress, has also some vitamins and minerals and is purifying! but also surpresses hunger, and where food is sometimes sparce, the substitute Mate does a good job after I got used to the ligthly bitter taste, I realy looked forward of sitting around with friend and let the Cuja (gourd ) make the round, a hot drink in South America in general, in Paraguay though....everybody drinks it cold. maybe a good idea after all, in the hot and humid Paraguay one needs a cooling down. Chipa Bread is going down well with a cold Terere, as Mate is called in Paraguay...the Cuja shown here is from southern Brasil, in P. the Cuja's are much smaller, often wraped in fine silver work, keeps the Terere coolisher have a look at the website below, there is an example of the 'spanish' cuja Leave a Comment
