Lido Bar is located just across "Panteon de los Heroes". From the sidewalk cafe you can watch the two fully gala dressed, pike armed soldiers (helmet included) who guard the entrance. This spot is very popular with locals from nearby offices and banks. It's almost imposible to get one of the outside tables or a stool at the bar at noon!!. Better to wait until 1.30 or 2.00 PM. I don't think there's tables inside but other than that the best description I can get is a classical downtown diner.
Favorite Dish: - Caldo de Pescado (Local Fish Soup)
- Lomito a Caballo (Steak with two eggs on top)
- Arroz con Leche (Rice pudding)

Favorite Dish: Erva Mate Tea..from the Ilex Paraguariensis..Tree.
in Brasil, Argentina and Uruguay, Mate is taken as a hot drink.....in Paraguay nonetheless is taken cold, and called Terere
Mate tea has been consumed for many centuries in South America.
A cure for skin disease, helps detoxify the body, great against fatique and supresses the appetite, handy when no food around!
like the Coca leafs in Bolivia - Peru and Ecuador

If you are looking for either the best burger you have ever had, or the tastiest pizza outside of Italy, Pancholo's is the place to find it! A fast-food style restaurant, it has the same feel as an American burger joint. The food is cheap, cheap, cheap, and unbelievably tasty! I would walk past Pancholo's on my way to and from work every day, and it was an effort not to stop in for an ice cream cone (soft serve, vanilla or caramel).
Favorite Dish: A chicken sandwich called "Lomito de Pollo". Lomito bascially means scallopini (a thin cut of meat), and they offer them in beer, fish, or chicken. The chicken was easily the best. It comes on a nice bun (which is hard to find in Paraguay!!!), with lettuce, tomato and cheese. So yummy!!!

Address: There are three locations around Asuncion
Rodizio is a great place for hungry travellers!!! It is a buffet style restaurant that charges by the kilo. It has cold food (salads, fruits, etc.), as well as hot (pastas, meat dishes, etc). The best part is they also have "asado", which is a rotisserie that has beef and chicken available in many different cuts. This is some of the best meat I have ever tasted!!!!
Favorite Dish: I was never disappointed at Rodizio. I always left full, and never paid over CDN$7. (The average price was G20,000).
