Paulista Grill: Paulista Grill

by eduar68

Located close to the shopping area of Villa Morra, Paulista Grill is heaven for those who like BBQ and hell for those with high cholesterol. Compared to North America or Europe, meat is comparatively very cheap. The very best meat cuts can be bought at the local market for little more than $1 per pound or 2 Euros per kilo. And quality is, truly, superior to ours. This churrasquería has been staying on this location for years with identical success. It is part of a brazillian chain. The offer ample premises and private rooms. The buffet has different kinds of salads, rice, grains, pasta and cold cuts of meats. Do not exagerate here!! You need space in your belly for the meatMy favorite local meat cuts areTapa (de cuadril)VacioPicaña (with and without garlic)Sausages

Mburicao: International-Paraguayan mix

by eduar68

A classic in the local scene. Famous and famous -to-be gather at Chef Rodolfo Angenscheidt's place. He is a parisian trained chef (Maxim's) and he is a local TV personality due to his cooking program "Cocinando la mañana" (literally, cooking the morning) The menu changes from time to time but try any of the Surubi (a local river fish) dishes. The Salmon is also incredibly fresh. For those who prefer meat try the Marsala Scallopini stuffed in creamed spinach

Il Capo: Great Italian Food

by eduar68

There are many italian restaurants in Asuncion. I just love this one. Relaxed atmosphere, good service and a good dose of romanticism. This small eatery has whitewashed walls and wooden beams. The wine is reasonably priced and feature italian, argentinean and chilean wines mostly. SCALOPE DI MAIALE ROSSOPork Scallopini in Red Wine SauceThe scallopini are also stuffed with ham and cheeseFRITELLEIce Cream stuffed Crepes with an Amaretto-Chocolate sauce, covered in nutsDo I need to explain this....? MMMM!!!

SOL AZTECA: The real and flavorful Mexican Food!

by Peoplesil

Sol Azteca invites you to experience the Mexico you have always dreamed about outside that country. It combines real Mexican atmosphere with culinary secrets. You'll find what you are looking for: Outstanding presentation, quality of the dishes, their tasteful and original decors and a personalized attention; just as in Mexico.Definitely, you'll enjoy exquisite recipes and beverages at their elegant terrace. As the restaurant says: "Sol Azteca is the perfect end to a perfect day", I fully agree with that. I've tried several dishes and I've to admit that it is quite difficult to just mention one of them. You have to try the following ones: Alambre mexicano, Cochinita Pibil, Camarones al ajillo, Tacos, Fajitas, Molcajete Mar y Tierra and Surubi a la Veracruzana and don't miss the real Margaritas and other beverages; just as in Mexico!

the Mate Ceremony

by pepples46

as in the many South American Countries, Mate is a substancial and essential Beverage as well as a healthy brew.good for the intestins, cleansing of and antioxidant, a natural diaretic, anti-fatique and anti-stress, has also some vitamins and minerals and is purifying!but also surpresses hunger, and where food is sometimes sparce, the substitute Mate does a good jobafter I got used to the ligthly bitter taste, I realy looked forward of sitting around with friend and let the Cuja (gourd ) make the round, a hot drink in South America in general, in Paraguay though....everybody drinks it cold.maybe a good idea after all, in the hot and humid Paraguay one needs a cooling down.Chipa Bread is going down well with a cold Terere, as Mate is called in Paraguay...the Cuja shown here is from southern Brasil, in P. the Cuja's are much smaller, often wraped in fine silver work, keeps the Terere...

Hacienda las Palomas: Hacienda Las Palomas

by eduar68

A wonderful property surrounded by gardens, ideal frame for a genuine Mexican cuisine. Start with quesadillas, tacos al pastor, fried cheese continue with popocatopelt, malcajete cielo mar y tierra (shrimps, chicken, lomito meat and onions) and the typical enchiladas with mole poblano. Crepes with "dulce de leche" is a good end to a memorable meal. Executive menu available at lunch time.

Hotel Restaurante Jardin Aleman: Roadside Restaurant

by eduar68

About 15 miles west of Asuncion, on the road to Iguazu Falls, is this little roadside hotel and restaurant. Like many others in all Paraguay, it is owned by german inmigrants and they combine local products with german specialties. The restaurant has a very complete buffet. For those returning from a short trip to Caapupe or San Bernardino, this place is a very convenients restop. Pork legs with sauerkraut, White sausages, Pasta...

Confiteria Bolsi: Confiteria Bolsi

by eduar68

Inside a 19th-century house and operated by the same family since 1960. For years Bolsi and Lido Bar compited for lunchtime clients. Then, one day, Bolsi became a bit more chic and it divesified with Fast-Food mini-Bolsi's at a few shopping malls. Now Lido Bar (See tip) is kind of more popular and traditional and Bolsi more modern. Chef Valiente loves mediterranean cuisine and adapts them with local ingredients. Try surubi, a local river fish. Surubi recipiesAny kind of meats are always a safe and great bet in Paraguay

Lido Bar: Downtown favorite spot

by eduar68

Lido Bar is located just across "Panteon de los Heroes". From the sidewalk cafe you can watch the two fully gala dressed, pike armed soldiers (helmet included) who guard the entrance. This spot is very popular with locals from nearby offices and banks. It's almost imposible to get one of the outside tables or a stool at the bar at noon!!. Better to wait until 1.30 or 2.00 PM. I don't think there's tables inside but other than that the best description I can get is a classical downtown diner. - Caldo de Pescado (Local Fish Soup)- Lomito a Caballo (Steak with two eggs on top)- Arroz con Leche (Rice pudding)
