In more rural area's cows will walk the roads; also at night! In the villages stray dogs will walk the roads (and drunken men at fridaynight when they get there weekly pay).
Becareful of the racoons in Iguazu, they are nice but mischevious too. They might steal your stuff, especially your food ;)
