We didn't travel from Nazca to Arequipa, rather Arequipa to Lima. Cruz del Sur was by far the best and safest bus. We didn't feel threatened one little bit. They film everyone on the bus and scan bags. Here is our blog for the trip. http://jkadventures.wordpress.com/2012/05/25/22nd-may-travelling-to-lima-and-a-very-expensive-napkin-for-dinner/
we are planning the same route, spending a few days in Arequipa then going by bus to Puno for a few days. I read somewhere that most buses go from Arequipa to Puno by night, but then see people talking about the scenery and how great it is. Any advice on doing this bus trip (Arequipa-Puno) day or night?
