Touristic Ticket, Cusco
The boleto turistico will be one of the most important things you will purchase in Cusco. This ticket allows you admission to sixteen of the most important sights in and around Cusco and the Sacred Valley. You cannot get into some of the churches or museums without this ticket. The cost is only $10 US for adults and $5 US for children and students. This is a bargain, even if you only visit half of the sites on the ticket. You can buy this ticket at one of the many tourist offices in Cusco. I purchased mine at my hotel upon arrival. Be sure to carry it with you at all times. You may be strolling around and come upon one of the included sights in your wanderings.
The boleto allows admission to the following attractions: La Catedral,Iglesia de San Blas,Museo de Arte Religioso,Municipal Palace Museum,Museo Arqueo Logico de Qoricancha,Museo de Santa Catalina,Sacsayhuaman,Q'enko,Puca Pucara,Tambomachay,Pisac, Ollantaytambo,Chinchero,Pikillacta, and Tipon.
Fondest memory: The ticket is a cool thing to put in your scrapbook because your name is on it and there are full color pictures of all the attractions. Also, the places you visited are marked on the ticket.
When you get to Cuzco you have the possibility to buy a ticket (35 Soles, July 2002) that gives you entry to 16 places:
-Museo de Arte Religioso
-Museo de Santa Catalina
-Museo Palacio Municipal
-Museo de Sitio Qoricancha
-Museo Histórico Regional
-Parque Arquelógico de Pisaq
-Tipón (See Oropesa-pages)
The ticket gives you entry for one visit at each place. The ticket is nicely done in form of a diploma, that you can put on your wall, though it will be punctured with a lot of holes after your visits:-[
On the back side of the ticket you will find information about opening and closing times and some telephone numbers etc. You will also find a map of the central parts of Cuzco (where the old parts that form a Puma are marked), and a little map that gives you a hint on where some places outside Cuzco are located (Machu Picchu, Chinchero, Pisaq, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo etc).
To the Convento Dominicano (where you can visit The Temple of the Sun) you have to buy a special ticket (4 Soles, July 2002).
One of the best deals in Cusco is a tourist ticket that gets you into 16 of the most important places of interest in and around Cusco, including some of the major draws in the Sacred Valley of the Incas!
In fact, you cannot get into many churches and museums without it.
The full ticket costs $22 for adults and $5 for students and children, is valid for 10 days (do not lose it, or you will be forced to purchase a new one), and is available at Casa Garcilaso, on Plaza Regocijo at the corner of Garcilaso and Heladeros
