    Llamas petting zoo

by ryuhome Written Sep 1, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

On the way to Pisac, we stopped at this Llama zoo. You can see llamas, alpacas and vicunes here. You can see them up close, feed them, touch their soft fur and take pictures with them. Donation is voluntary. A nice stop for 15-20 mins.

    Sacsayhuaman - natural rock slides

by ryuhome Written Sep 5, 2005

The tour guides won't take you there. At the back of hill opposite the fortress, there are several rock formations which are naturally shaped like the slide. On the day I was there, many kids were playing there on their school trip. The one shown in the foreground is for beginners. The one farther away are for the advanced.

An excuse for a Llama Pic.

by MrRandMcnally Written Jan 18, 2006

The llama, Alpaca, Vicuna are all over the altiplanos but you never get tired of seeing the funny looking animals. beyond the photos though these guys make one of the best products from Peru. Their wool is wonderfully soft, and the baby alpaca doesn't ich. I'm not a sweater guy but I love my alpaca sweaters.

    Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

by darthmilmo Written Feb 25, 2003

What a better way to get to Macchu Picchu then the 4 day Inca Trail. You don't to be in prime shape folks. I saw trekkers of all ages in this hike. The four day trek is now only available through one of the many tour companies in Cusco. Don't let this detter you from going!!! There is tons of info regarding Machu Picchu and the Inca trail on my Machu Picchu page.

    Jungle Trip

by darthmilmo Written Feb 25, 2003

Although the jungle lies hundreds of kilometers away, there are several interesting jungle trips one can take from Cusco. Some are guided, and others, well are self-made adventures. My experience of the Amazon jungle was unique and amazing. A friend and I bought a canoe in the jungle and rowed it for over 500 kilometers down the lower Urubamba River. In a nutshell, the jungle was beautiful! Got to see gators, parrots, guacamayas, exotic birds, and other animals. I even caught this weird looking, but good tasting, catfish. It was nearly a meter long! Anyway, I am getting ahead of myself. To read more about my Jungle Expediton please visit my Sepahua page that offers a complete detail on this trip.

    Moras

by ryuhome Written Sep 2, 2005

You past through the dusty town of Moras to get to Moray. It looks very poor. We did not have time to stop here. If Moray is not off the beaten path, Moras is definitely is.

    Inca stairways

by ryuhome Written Sep 2, 2005

The Incas put protruding stones on the side of their terraces to serve as stairways. You will see this at Moray (here) and Machu Picchu.
