Seminario Ceramics: Pottery with history

2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Pablo Seminario , a well-known ceramic artist, makes modern pottery in pre-Inca styles. The designs have been carefully researched. He has lectured at the Smithsonian, and some of his pieces are in the Chicago Natural History Museum.

Items are for sale at his home studio.

What to buy: Almost anything made from ceramics. He makes everything from dinnerware to jewelery.

What to pay: Not cheap, but worth it

Seminario Ceramics: Ceramics in Sacred Valley

Seminario Ceramics is a great place to stock up on new ceramics and artwork from Cusco. The store in Urubamba has a much wider selection than the store in Cusco. You can even select what you like and have them ship it up to the Cusco store so it doesn't break on your trips around the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu.

When you first arrive in Cusco, the altitude sickness can unhinge you. I recommend descending to the centrally located Urubamba to explore the Sacred Valley. We stayed at Las Chullpas. The owners...

Urubamba

Urubamba, with a population of about 8,000, is the largest town in the Sacred Valley. It's not a major destination, but there are good hotels and restaurants here.
