You can take a 1 hour tour of the tombs here for a closer glimpse of some of the mummified remains of bodies from the Nazca era. Though a lot of the artifacts were stolen and sold by tomb raiders the remains are now more protected and the tombs restored. It is an interesting insight into the cultures of the people who once lived in this area. Not for the faint hearted though, as the bodies incredibly still have some of their original clothing and hair. I kind of get the feeling that they ought to be left to rest in peace with their gods.
Chauchillas cemetery is close to Nazca town, about 8 kms. Take a taxi if you want to visit the place.
