Lima is the second greatest metropol - after Cairo - that is constructed in a desert. "Water is life - take care of it!" Due to the lucky distribution of water by the river Rimac and others, grand cultivations are possible and also distribution of fresh water to a metropol of 8.5 million people. The water distribution red has improved greatly the last years, due to a hard work by Sedalp. (Sometime there can be water shortage, but not as often as before.) The water is (highly) chlorinated to kill microbs. The recommendation is that you drink only bottled water or water sterilized by heating (boiling). Though I have brushed my teeths without problems, I do not recommend you to do the same. (I don´t want you to blame me if you get sick!) |
