District Of Barranco, Lima
Favorite thing: I booked a hostel in the southern district of Barranco, so had some time to wander around this beautiful quarter. Built at the beginning of the 20th century, it soon became favourite place for painters and other artists. You can find here delicious examples of art deco architecture, as this public library (Biblioteca) in the Municipal Park.
Favorite thing: That way down through the artists destrict in Barranco is very beautiful. Left and right hand of the way are beautiful little houses, painted in different colours, some of them with restaurant or coffeebar with a fantastic view towards the ocean. Besides shadowgiving trees, much more as you usually find in the streets of Lima.
Most of the travellers I met didn´t like Lima at all. Ok, there are too much other interesting places in Peru, nevertheless Lima as well is a very interesting Metropolis.
First we´ve got downtown Lima with a lot of beautiful old buildings, an amazing cathedral next to the "plaza de armas", a lot of other beautiful churches, very interesting museums, in a lot of different districts every kind of nightlife, for example a lot of nice bars in Barranco, little villages and suburbs all around Lima with nice beaches....and so on
Go to Barranco, eat a Cebiche, Drink a Pisco Sour, seat on the border of the cliff to watch the sunset on the Chorrillos Bay, enjoy the nightlife, do whatever you want to do!!! But please, don't try to swim on the Rimac river... never, ever; at least not near Lima. Ah, and say hi to mom, I miss her!
Fondest memory: Carnival... the sundays in february when all kids play with water and get you soaked to the bone; it's great! And is my last memory of Lima also, since I left it a few months ago.
Favorite thing: In Barranco district you will find many examples of colonial architecture, both in public buildins like this official site or in private houses all around.
