The Peru is a mecca for plastic surgery
Favorite thing: While wandering around a market, I stopped to listen in to a shopkeepers TV where I learned that Peru is the number one destination for Americans going overseas for plastic surgery. Apparently, plastic surgery is big among Lima's upper classes. The surgeons are considere very adept and cheap by U.S. standards, so Americans are flocking to Lima for tummy tucks, breast implants and face lifts. Be careful, however, four Americans have died over the last five years, all receiving liposuction.
Just for the record, neither of us visited a medical professional while in Peru.

District Miraflores....without foggy sky
Favorite thing: one hour later the fog has gone. ´The grew sky is typical for Lima, the foggy clouds are typical for a lot of seaside places....and as quick as it comes it goes as well. That day we had a nice sunny sky and as always high temperatures.
Normally in Lima there´s no real winter, it´s never less than 10 degrees (Celsius), just this last winter 2002/2003 I heard about some "real" cold days......that means less than 10 degrees ...:-) but still not less than zero...far away.
fog in Lima
Favorite thing: Really typical for Lima is the almost the whole year foggy sky. Lima people don´t know blue skies with brilliant suns.....nor a sky full of stars....because they never see. Ok, I´m exagerating, but it´s almost like that.
Miraflores by night
Favorite thing: ok ok, am repeating the point of view...point of view of the pictures I did. But that was the place I stayed and the overview from 12th floor was quite nice....and a city at night always has got it´s special beauty.
So please don´t argue, it´s only a general tip here...... and I can say, Lima at night is a great place, sooo much pubs and bars and discos and salseros, marvelous scenery at Lima coast at night. Amazing, I love it.
No blue skies, what?
Favorite thing: I was in Lima last year and we had blue skies for about 5 months before the typical fog appeared. I heard many people came to Lima for plastic surgery...has anyone been/can recommend anywhere, out of interest?
Gosh, talking of plastic surgery, what about cosmetic dentistry. I was searching the web and found www.travelandsmile.net that is in Lima. What do you guys think to it? A good move perhaps?
Anyways, Im back in Lima and staying all year. Would be good to hear from some of you guys heading this way! firstname.lastname@example.org
Fondest memory: Being stuck on the PanAmericana after a strike by local workers and taking a donkey and cart....
Larcomar Shopping Center:...
Favorite thing: Larcomar Shopping Center: Fastfood restaurants, very good restaurants, Cinemark, Café shops, Disco, Hard Rock Café, etc.
