Now that the corrupt former president Alberto Fujimori is a fugitive, hiding-out in a Tokyo condo, there will hopefully be some positive political changes. (I personally believe that Japan is wrong to not return him) There is much hope for the new president, Alejandro Toledo. He is a 'Cholo,' descendant from the indiginous population. Miles of unplanned 'shantytowns' are being built on the outskirts of town. These towns usually lack proper water and sanitation facilities, and are infested with disease. Lima is overcrowded, yet the people keep coming down from the mountain villages in hope of a better life. I hope the government can do something to fill the needs of the people. Leave a Comment

The Pisco Sour is the national drink of Peru and can be found all over the country. It was just one of those moments you stumble upon when travelling. Its late in Miraflores, About 9PM in the main plaza a crowd is gathered in a circular type stage. They have a boombox for music and a local chorus is singing while people dance along. I am still not sure what it was all about but it was cool! Leave a Comment
