Barranco, south of Lima, is a trendy neighborhood for nightlife. In a very relaxed and nice ambient, you will find many bars and restaurants near the "Municipal Park", in the Carrion street, a pedestrian way with many bars close one to each other. Leave a Comment Theme: People Watching

If you ask any peruvian around for where to go for a good peña, well all agree for once: Barranco is it. Right next to Miraflores (5 soles tops for a taxi), passing El Puente de los Suspiros (must read a little about this and about Chabuca Granda to really get Barranco) and coming into The Park, Barranco offers a selection of places that will be hard to find anywhere else. For a night of musica criolla to trova and nueva trova, Barranco has it. A particular favorite is the Oita Nomas (Grau Av. right in front of the park), inexpensive and open from tuesday to saturday its usually my stopping point when in Barranco. The live music on a week night is definitely its selling point, plus it doesnt end on the weeknights till about 2 and the weekends, uhhh, i shouldnt tell you. It has two floors, so plenty of room for everybody to get a good view of the band, but stay downstairs if you want to flirt w/the singers ;-) .... Right next door is DejaVu so the party may continue there if you wish with a little different flavor: salsa, merengue, spanish rock, pop and more. Just make sure to get there before 4am on weekdays and 6 on the weekends as they close the doors to let people in, you can keep on partying inside but nobody else is allowed in as the night diwndles down.....

Lima is full of nightlife with pubs and thriving nightclubs, but we never saw much of it. We were used to the hiking/backpacking life and we generally got up early and went to bed accordingly. Still, we enjoyed some early evening drinks such as pisco sours here at El Cordano. This magic elixir is made from pisco, Peru's equivalent to tequila. It's a grape-based liquor and mixed with egg white, lemon juice, sugar, bitters and crushed ice, an intoxicating and all too drinkable cocktail.
A cheesey American smile....lol. D hates this photo but it's the only one of a pisco sour I have. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and DrinkingAddress: Ancash 202Directions: Stumbling distance to Hotel Espana

De Calle de pizzas is a street in Miraflores packed with pizzaplaces, pubs and clubs. On the street many men and women will try to get you in their pub. It's easy to get a free pisco sour with your beer, just talk to the people who try to get you in the pubs. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

This is hands down my favorite bar in Lima. Like so many other places in this city, it has everything you would want out of a bar: Good music, dance floor, comfortable sofas, good drinks, etc. However, the difference between this bar and others is that it is a little more upscale, but certainly not over the top. Plus, if you are a fan of 80s music this is no doubt the place to go. Thursdays and Saturdays are big 80s nights.
Somewhat upscale lounge. Jeans are OK. Leave a Comment Theme: DancingDirections: Manuel Bonilla and Larco.

A good bar to start an evening out is el Tayta at the top of Larco, it's a drinking rather than dancing place, and they are surprisingly hard to find in Lima. Bar staff are friendly and they do food as well. If you are a single guy in Lima looking for action you could check out Tequila Rocks which is teeming with single women. It looks like a normal disco as you enter, then you reaise there are so many more women than men. I think most are on the game. A real disco nearby is el gato azul, which is a locals rather than tourists disco and therefore, cheaper and friendlier. Lots of salsa music, not the smartest of places but good fun. If you had down to Larco Mar you can go to Teatriz (name might have changed) but I wouldn't recommend it, it's overpriced and nothing special.
None. Teatriz has a "race" policy which means White Peruvians and "gringos" have no dress code but non-white Peruvians will be subject to a dress code. Not a nice place! Theme: NightclubAddress: MirafloresDirections: Miraflores

Okay, this night was a little blurry, so bear with me. We took a cab down to the heart of Barranco, which is just south along the coast from Miraflores. We got dropped off at Parque Municipal and within a couple blocks of there, you'll find a ton of bars and restaurants. We ended up trying many local drinks at a few of the bars and then heading back to our hotel in Miraflores in the wee hours. I do remember that you have plenty of options in a compact area here, so in my opinion, it was a great place to go out at night for a few drinks. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Cala is a beautiful and hip restaurant and lounge located on the water in Barranco. It has two levels: The upstairs is a restaurant with incredible, yet slightly pricey, food (Try the Mero). The downstairs is a lounge/bar with the highlight being a long balcony that is literally above the ocean. Excellent setting. The crowd is trendy and a little more stuck up than what you would find out some other more down-to-earth hangouts in Lima, but worth the trouble at the very least for the view. The music tends to be somehwhat Techno but bearable. Tends to get very crowded Thursday through Saturday so its good to get there before 11.
More upscal than most places in Lima so dress accordingly. Jeans are probably not a problem. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and DrinkingDirections: Barranco. On the water.
