    Plaza de Armas. The main square is located in the same place where Francisco Pizarro founded it. The Government Palace, the Cathedral and the Municipal Palace are located around the square.

    Francisco Pizarro's remainS are located inside a church. A city tour is always a good way to get a good feel for an area, to learn about a country's make up, and to hear what is important to and about people who live there. Many downtown areas have both governement and religious locations to learn about. It was surprising to find these remainS located inside of a church in Lima.

    Antiguamente fue una huaca dedicada al dios Puma Inti. La primera piedra la coloca Francisco Pizarro el 18 de Enero de 1535, bajo la advocación de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción y posteriormente a San Juan Evangelista. Destaca la Capilla de Francisco Pizarro, la de San Juan Bautista, el Altar Mayor y la sillería coral.

    Este es el tercer edificio que es construído en este solar (Santo Toribio Alfonso de Mogrovejo inauguró la primera parte de este edificio el 2 de Febrero de 1604).Fue consagrada el 19 de Octubre de 1625. Sucesivos terremotos la dañaron hasta que a fines del siglo XIX se terminó con su reconversión. Destacan los altares consagrados a Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo y a la Virgen de la Evangelización. Se puede visitar el Museo de Arte Religioso de lunes a viernes de 10:00 am a 1:00 pm y de 2:00 a 5:00 pm.
