Favorite thing: The city of Matucana has suffered from flooding of the river Rimac, from time to time. Here a small bridge has suffered from the high water stream.

Favorite thing: Go to Matucana to see the high mountains, on the way from Lima you will see a lot of this type of hills/mountains of rock, sand and gravel. It is a great scenery.

Favorite thing: Building the railway was a titanic effort, through the mountains there are several tunnels, of which you here see two!
The tunnels were build in times when they were hacked through the rock (there were no mechanical drills)

Favorite thing: The rails go sometimes along with the main road.
The building of the railway started in 1870. At times there were 10,000 men working at the project.

Favorite thing: The lack of space for curves have made it necessary to form zig-zags where the train goes back and forth to climb up.
