One of the ruins in the middle of town - Miraflores.
You have guides, especially English - without guide you cannot get in anyway. People are very nice there.
And the place is very interesting. In the summer it is helpful to have water because it is very very hot and no place to hide from the sun.

If staying in Miraflores the safest way to travel to downtown Lima is by taxi. Catch a taxi from any of the major hotels in Miraflores. Do not take any valuables with you as downtown can be dangerous regarding pick pocketers.
The main square is very interesting to stroll around and the historical old part of Lima is wonderful.

This is the house for the Peruvian Government and is located in the Plaza Mayor. In order to visit the palace you MUST book 24hours in advance between the hours 8.30am-1.00pm or 2.pm - 3.30pm.

The Larco Museum displays an excellent overview of Pre- Columbian History. Its lovely to visited as the building and gardens are gorgeous dating back to the 18th century and built over a 7th century pre-columbian pyramid.
Catch a taxi from Miraflores, it takes approx 15 minutes. Open Daily between 9am - 6pm.

Miraflore Cliffs - This is a Must Do on your list. Take a stroll along the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean for a bird's eye view of Lima. Great spot for taking photo's and watching sky divers risk their lives...
Museum Pedro De Osma - in Barranco. A huge collection of colonial art.
City tour - which includes the Plaza San Martin, the catherdal, Plaza Mayor, and the Archbishop's Palace. Tours last around 2-3hrs. www.equssperu.com for more details.
Aliaga's House - Lima's mansion.
Government Palace - Situated in Plaza Mayor and house the seat of the Peruvian government. Suitable attire (no shorts etc.etc). Changing of the guards happen around midday.
San Francisco Monastery - famous for its library and catacombs.
The Lanrco Museum - situated on top of the 7th Century pre Columbian pyramid.
National Archaeology Museum - fabulous collection of Peruvian civilization.

Pucllanco Pre-Columbian Tomb - temple in the heart of Miraflores.

The other ruin in the middle of Miraflores. very small and only worth a visit when you have more time like I did or you´re deeply interested in those kind of things.
