I really liked this place-- good food, convenient location, helpful patrons, friendly service and booze. Apparently, it serves American food, but my eye went straight to the list of specials on the wall, where they list a plethora of yummy local foods, including fresh fish and even alligator.
Although it's kinda *the* gringo bar, Iquitos is off the map enough so that nothing gets really touristy (No white dudes picking up on local chicks like in Cusco or Aguas Caliente). It's rep makes it a good place to go to get information, as you're likely to find English speakers hanging out there. We met some very helpful locals, including a guy that used to run jungle tours and an expat that published a local newspaper.
Favorite Dish: The gator I had here (the filet, not the nuggets) was sooooo much better than in the Everglades. And it was dirt cheap.

Food is good and plentiful, except for the sandwiches which could do with a bit more meat on 'em.
Gerald, the owner, knows all about the area.
Favorite Dish: Yellow Rose Breakfast, don't be shy - if you can't finish it, that's o.k.

This is one of the most famous restaurants here, at lest amongst tourists. The owner used to direct the Tourism Office here. American food of course, and good beer. The interior decorations deserves aggod look and the chairs are highly comfortable.

This popular place is located right in the Plaza de Armas, and I'd consider it more a bar than a burger. They serve fast food, shakes, sandwiches... and is a good place for breakfast, as they open really early for the standards here. Is a good place for a late sandwich too, but don't expect high cuisine here...

Fitzcarraldo is the name of a famous Manaos (another Amazon city, in Brazil) character, who lived in the 19th century and inspired a good Werner Herzog's movie with the same title. You will see pictures and affiches of this film all around inside the place.
It's a rather good option to taste local specialities. Though a bit too touristic (and overpriced), if it's not crowded makes a good way to spend the afternoon if you seat by the terrace and see the people walk up and down the riverside walk.
Favorite Dish: I had a River turtle dish, which was delicious, reminded me the game meat somehow...

CHIFA is the generic name that chinese restaurants get here in Peru. There are plenty everywhere and are a cheap way to fill your stomach. They are usually painted in a colourful way, with distinctive architectural details that remind chinese style.
