Be prepared!

by JessieLang

Lightweight clothing is best. Long sleeved shirts, tall socks so you can tuck your pant legs into them, a hat and sunglasses; a lightweight jacket and a rain jacket. I took a netting thing that covered my face. Not necessary, but nice for night outings when the others were slapping mosquitos. And you need a pair of shoes or boots you can get muddy. (Sandals are not a good idea!) Bring lots of mosquito repellant; Take your malaria pills; bring any prescription or non-prescription medications you might need. You won't see a drugstore for a week. You will need sunscreen too. More memory cards or film than you think you need. You will use it. Camping gear isn't needed. There may be an opportunity to swim in the river, so bring a suit if you want to do that. Bring binoculars for birdwatching.
