Bring flashlight with extra batteries
You'll need them for the night walk in the forest, waling around the ground at night and in your room after lights out.

Bring a pair of good binoculars
You'll be watching the macaws from a distance. Good binoculars will help. A tripod will really help.

Rain jacket, waterproof camera
Pack light as there might not be enough room for your big backpacks or suitcases in the boat!

It takes on average 3 days for stuff to dry in the jungle just because of the humidity. You will also sweat like crazy there from the humidity and when you go on jungle treks.

There are no shops or stores available in the jungle...bring whatever you will need. The lodge provides soap, toilet paper and towels.

My camera got moisture inside and stopped working...fortunately when it dried up it worked again. I would recommend getting a disposal because it rains very frequently there and their rain is DOWN POUR of heavy rain for hours at a time.

The Explorer's Inn lodge provides rain boots but they recommend buying your own if you have a big shoe size because they might not have it stock and they will offer to buy them from you when you leave provided you have a receipt.

A few vital things
Pack light. There could be restrictions on the canoe based on how many people are on it. Some places let you leave bags at their office before you depart to the lodge. Most trip to this area are only a few days anyway. Remember, there aren't any malls in the jungle..

OK the group that was there just before us were so hot, they were taking cold showers 3 times a day. We get there and we're freezing on the 2 hour motorized canoe ride in. Sooo...bring a little of everything. A warm fleece jacket might do. Shorts/T-shirts. When the sun comes out, it's hot!

Shoes? Light hiking boots are great for the trail although sturdy runners would suffice. Most places provide rubber boots for rainy days.

A light rain jacket.

Insect repellent a must (cooler weather helped on our trip)

Sunscreen (hot out there)

Yup..there may be a photo op or two.

Very important. Bring a flashlight as the trails are dark at night. The lodges only use kerosene lamps. Finding the bathroom in the dark could be fun without one. If you forget one, you can buy one in Puerto Maldonado. Very cheap too.
