After relaxing a few hours in a beach chair, it was great with a long walk along the beach... There are many birds on the beach, searching for food in the sand or flying in large flocks just over your head. I have no idea what kind of birds, but many – and in all sizes...
If you walk right from the hotel, you can follow the beach to the Mancora fishing pier. We saw many fishermen returning from the morning’s fishing trip, the small fisherboats were very primitive and looked more like a raft than a boat suitable for ocean fishing. The bigger boats were anchored at the fishing pier, and we wanted to have a closer look, but the pier was fenced and guarded? If you walk left from the hotel, there are many small and cosy hotels along the beach. Still quiet and peaceful and a nice place for a walk.
And don’t miss the sunset at the beach. Amazing…
Teach yourself to ride a motorcycle
There's a little shack on between the city of Mancora and the Muelle that serves as a place to hire motorcycles. Without asking for any ID, documentation, or downpayment, the owner let us rent two bikes for 5 hours for a grand total of S./100. If you've never riden a bike before, you should get over to the dust field that's near the bridge to test your skills. It helps to be with someone who knows what they're doing. It's tons of fun for a first time rider and, if you don't value your life all that much, you can head South to Los Organos to see the market and buy ice cream. Stay Well to the right of the road, as all sorts of traffic will see how close they can pass you without hitting you. My clutch broke a bit north of Los Organos, but they guys were great about coming out to fix it and giving us an extra hour with the bikes. You can try to venture into the hills, but there's really nothing out there to see. It's only fun if you're new to motorcycle riding and a bit daring.
Punta Sal and Mancora are certainly only beach vacations places, nothing to do with this general idea: I go to Peru to learn about the inca culture, do trekking in the anden or visit museums....it´s just and only normal beach life!! But beautiful relaxing. Besides if you are on your way to Ecuador its a beautiful place to have a stop.
