Tinajani is a canyon and a petrified forest about nine miles from Ayaviri. Some of the rocks which have been eroded into fantastical shapes are over 160 feet high! One can see different shapes such as human figures and animals. There you can get an unique experience!!

Doña Julia is known by the preparation of the best kankacho in the city of Ayaviri. Kankacho is the typical plate of Ayaviri. It is ovine meat roasted in a mud furnace accompanied by cooked andean potatoes. Doña Julia is one of the pioneers in commercializing this food. She begun selling her delicious Kankacho at the bus station of the city of Ayaviri. Nowadays she has establishments in the cities of Ayaviri and Arequipa, but one can still find she selling this food in a stand to the flank of the cathedral.

you really need a 4 x 4 to drive to the hacienda "Buana Vista" beacuse it is impossible with a normal car. The roads are not harded and not egal .... you also have to cross a small river ...
