On solid ground?
As these are flotaing islands, there is no solid ground here. It is a weird feeling the first time you go out of the boat and step on this soft ground made out of plants. You get used after the first few steps, but is hard to move securely...

Amantani - Soroche Warning
If you thought your head was splitting from the 3,800m of altitude where the lake sits, then the hike up to Amantani's highest peak will surely have you doubling over at 4,200m. The air is pretty thin so you may need to take it easy if you haven't yet acclimatized to the height.
Be sure to drink coca leaf tea (mate de coca), eat coca leaves, walk slowly, eat lightly and drink lots of purified water - and - enjoy the vistas!

The "Totora" is a reed that grows in the Titicaca lake and they use for every thing
They eat , make their houses and boats , use to make fire , handicrafts , rugs , and also to make floating islands to live
Don't let your arm hung out of the boat !
We saw a guy injured because he let his arm hung out of the boat : after a mistake of the boat driver (a kif of 5 years old !!!), the boat has hurt a stack of stones and the poor arm was at the worst place...
If you aren't acclimated to the altitude Lake Titicaca is going to be dismal. It's really high; I spent two days in bed with a massive headache even with coca tea before I gave up and sought lower altitudes.
