Try it all

by MiRod.LLC

Peruvian's want tourist's obviously and this country has not been spoiled yet. They go out of their way to make things taste good and look good. I have eaten in a lot of high end restaurant's and they could not touch some of the little diners we ate at. Alpacha, is awesome, but I recommend have it cooked. I got sick after eating samishi, but it could have been something else as well.I could not break down and eat the local favorite, Guinea Pig, but I heard it was very good.

La Tranquera: Don't Miss The Guinea Pig

by alsand

A delightful restaurant in Miraflores, Lima that specializes in grilled dishes. We had a wonderful grilled guinea pig and a grilled strip steak. Both were done to perfection. The guinea pig was juicy and served on a plate over hot coals. We were served by an english speaking waiter whose service was beyond the expected. Overall a first rate experience Grilled Guinea Pig - cook to perfection - juicy - kept warm on a charcoal warmed platter

India Feliz: Great Meal at a low price

by Juyish

When you go to Aguas Calientes, search for India Feliz, this is the best resturant for money and amazing food. You will be bombarded by so many other local eatieries but this place is increible. The food is a mixture of Peruvian and French cuisine and the results are amazing presentations, and great flavor. When you go ask the local where is this resturant and they will point it out to you because the small town of Aguas Calientes is not that big, it's the starting point for tourist and hikers as their base camp before ascending Macchu Piccho. You will find yourself looking at the other plates because it just that amazing. I had quiche which was prepared and tasted like the ones I remember in Paris, France, for my main meal I had roasted chicken with seasonded potatoe fries that were crisp and just bursting with flavor.

Mango's: Mango's by the ocean

by miles420

Mango's is known for its breakfast and bruch buffets on the weekends. They serve up a good selection of salads, sandwiches, desserts, coffee drinks. They also have a bar. Quite a trendy place. There is an ice cream/gelato place outside which always had a pretty long line of customers. I tried it and it was quite excellent.

Chifa Kun Fa: Peruvian style Chinese food

by miles420

I had to find out what Peruvian style Chinese food was, and I was not dissappointed. The owner told me that there were about 1 million Chinese immigrants living in Lima, which was very surprising. This style of food is very popular in Peru, evident by the number of Chifa restaurants. I had a combo meal for lunch (soup, lemon chicken, rice, fresh pinapple juice)..no fortune cookie, though, must be an american thing! it sure is!! check outhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fortune_cookieThe food was great and inexpensive (12 Soles - $4).

El Truco: Dinner and a Show

by kiwi78

We had a fun first night in Cusco at El Truco. I really enjoyed the two different bands and the dancers (NB. they do charge an extra 7 soles/~$2US for the show). The place has a nice, if not a little touristy atmosphere. My dish was quite average (spicy chicken, which wasn't spicy at all), though others in my group really enjoyed their meals. I was really impressed at the speed that the waiters would come down the stairs with full trays in their arms and not drop everything.I recommend it!

Astrid & Gastón: The best restaurant in Lima

by montxito

This is the restaurant that was recognized as the 3rd best in Latin America and the 74th in the world by The World's 50 Best Restaurants. The service is impeccable and prepared to answer every question you may have about the food and the restaurant. Astrid y Gaston is, as one business magazine put it "a hub for business diners and the upper echelon of Limena society." The meal starts off with a basket of various fresh breads and a wonderful mango chutney that takes an act of will not to devour completely. It’s a great prelude for the meal to come but it’s best to have a whetted appetite rather than a dulled one. The dining begins in earnest with the appetizers and they pack a punch.Astrid y Gaston also boasts one of the best wine selections in Lima and is a great place to venture into the often-overlooked world of South American wines.

La Mar: The best cevichería in the world

by montxito

The latest project by renowned chef Gastón Acurio is an essential and delicious lunch-only cevicheria. In the year since it opened its doors for the first time, La Mar has been one of the hottest dining spots in all of Lima. The dishes meet every requirement for success: abundant, inexpensive, and delicious. Indeed, you need to get there quite early (particularly on Saturdays) unless you don't mind lingering for 2 hours on the bar. The menu includes all Peruvian seafood classics, plus some sushi and haute-cuisine creations. The seafood rice and pasta plates are great, as well as the chupe (a very richly flavoured seafood soup). The ambiance is rustic and cosy. A sure hit.

chez maggy: not to miss

by coolswizzle

if you`re looking for authentic andean cuisine and music this place is it! on my first night in cusco i was confused as to why there were so many pizzerias all over cusco. i was telling myself that if i wanted pizza i would have gone back to rome. so i walked a few blocks from my hotel and suddenly live piano music caught my attention....the restaurant was chez maggy. i liked the andean decor right away and at the end of the restaurant you can`t miss the native brick oven. they have live andean music the two nights we ate there. the food is good and they serve pizza too( it turned out to be good beacause they use andean cheese ..... this piece of info was provided by a couple who was on my plane from lima) no kidding........ i did have my peruvian pizza after all. i would have to say the guinea pig.......now that is something i will never forget!( see what i wrote in things to do...
