by bus

by nhoolb

There are many buses to the south, i.e. Pisco, Ica, Nasca and on to Arequipa. Preferably take the well-knowned companies like Ormeño and Cruz del Sur. These buses depart from their respective terminals in Lima, situated almost next to each other on the Avenida Javier Prado, more or less where Miraflores meets San Isidro with the Via Expresa (Paseo de la Republica). About 15-20 minutes by taxi from the centre of Miraflores. Advantage of these buses is that, although a little more expensive than others, they are safer. These buses don't stop to pick up passengers (maybe thieves and robbers, mostly armed) who stand waiting along the highway. Therefore whenever possible and/or feasible, avoid overnight travel.Early morning departures (7 -8 am) and afternoon departures (noon-2 pm), routing Pisco-Paracas-Ica-Nasca-Arequipa. The 8 am arrives Pisco/Hotel Paracas around noon. The afternoon...

Train to Huancayo

Domestic flights

by flynboxes

Kim wanted to buy tickets to Cuzco on LAN or TACA from home via the web site. This is hit or mis and since I was headed down there on a staff ticket I don't like set dates on my air travel since I seldom get them. My buddy who lives on the outskirts of Miraflores suggested that he would try a local agency..hey it worked. We got RT tickets to Cuzco from Lima for $168 each on Star Airlines. We got them through JG Conexiones who brought the tickets to my friends house where we swaped some cash for them.We had heard that Lan had 50 Rt tickets online but I never found them. We got these tickets 2 days prior to travel which I think is not so bad.

To/from the airport

by flynboxes

If you arrive at Lima airport you will probably be offered rates ranging from 40-55 soles to get to Miraflores. Don't do it. To get to the hostels in Miraflores you should pay 20 soles max. I overpaid buy a buck or so and got one for 25 after walking out past the hotel in front of the main terminal. When you exit the main terminal take the sidewalk to your right and follow it 100 yards or so as it curves out to the street. Keep in mind the US State Department advises against this as there have been robberies out on the street. I much prefer this than to get openly robbed in front of the airport by paying double the going rate. The little Yugos or other compact 4 door cabs on the street can get you where you want to go for 20 soles or less. Negotiate the price prior to hopping in. If you have a map show them or know the cross streets of where you need to go as even the cabs inside the...

Comparison Tool for Air Travel throughout Peru

by risse73

Unfortunately I came upon this site much too late, after I booked all of my internal flights and accommodations during my September 2007 visit to Peru. It's not too late though as I am hoping that others like you will know about it from this moment on, so that you can have better & cheaper choices. We deserve it as price-conscious consumers & we deserve to know other alternatives. The big companies could care less about our needs. Happy Travels!!!Weblink: http://www.enjoyperu.com/Click "APUNAKE" on right-hand side of the screen to start searching/comparing domestic flights via major Peruvian air carriers (e.g., Aerocondor, Star Peru, Lan Peru)*Note: Aerocondor is no longer in operation as of June 2008.

Inter-city buses

by iwys

The inter-city buses in Peru are generally very good. They are often modern double-deckers, with comfortable seats, DVDs, free bottles of water, snacks, and toilets. I found the night buses were quite easy to sleep on. Like all traffic in Peru, the buses can get delayed by roadblocks set up by demonstrators. Then the airconditioning is switched off and the toilets start to smell. Locals will usually set up impromptu stalls by the buses, selling ice cream, soft drinks etc.

Francisco Secada Vignetta International Airport

by traveldave

Located about four miles (seven kilometers) west of downtown Iquitos, Coronel Francisco Secada Vignetta International Airport (IQT) is one of only two ways to reach the isolated city (the other being by boat via the Amazon River). The airport is the main hub for the Peruvian Amazonian region, handling mainly short domestic flights to remote Amazonian outposts.Airlines serving Coronel Francisco Secada Vignetta International Airport: LAN Peru and Star Peru.

Buy tickets in Lan.com, maybe it´s better to call

by AnnieLituma

I guess you are not going to get the same prices 24 hours before the flight specially now in high season.. Why don´t you call them? Lan´s number is 2138200, they have people that answer in english and I have bought tickets over the phone - and i don´t think having a mastercard should be a problem for them! Maybe the website only allows visa but it just would be stupid not to sell tickets to people with another credit card!Call them!

price difference LAN peru

by yesjorn

thank you very much risse 73,I really appreciate you looking up everything and all.I will try each and every method you've mentioned. I've already mailed "noobl" (I'm sorry if I spelled his name wrong, I have no way of looking it up while writing this)One final question. I actually want to fly from Lima to juliaca on the 7th and back on the 26th of july. That's why I mentioned the amount of 343 dollars. I've tried to pay but I think it goes wrong when they ask wheter or not I'm peruvian (and answer it honestly).Oh yes...my question: How do you avoid the "creditcard payment errors"? I know now there are different appealing prices (thanks to you) for my flights but I get stuck while trying to make the payment. You seem to know an aweful lot about the issue ; )thanks a bunch!!

LAN price difference

by yesjorn

I've heard of waiting times up to 20 minutes on the phone....and if it's not toll free that could lead to some serious bills. Especially since I only own a mobile phone. So I hope Someone else has a way to "crack" the peruvian price route...thanks anyway.I'll use your tip as a back up!
