    La Bacha: One of the most popular places

    La Bacha is one of the most famous and popular restaurants of Costa de Oro; it is a large place, with a nice decoration and good service. During summertime it is always crowded, especially at night.

    Honestly, I do prefer smaller and cozier restaurants, but this is a pretty good place if you just want a simple dinner; the menu has a lot of options, so probably you can find what you want, for a reasonable price.

    La Bacha es uno de los más famosos y populares restaurantes de la Costa de Oro; es un lugar grande, con una decoración linda y buen servicio. Durante la temporada de verano está siempre lleno, especialmente por las noches.

    Honestamente, prefiero los restaurantes más pequeños y acogedores, pero éste es un lugar bastante bueno si lo que buscan es una comida sencilla; el menú tiene muchas opciones, por lo que probablemente encuentren lo que están buscando, por un precio razonable.

    Favorite Dish: Try the "chivito", a typical Uruguayan food, which is a loin sandwich, with ham, cheese, bacon, eggs, salads and fries... Wow!

    Prueben el "chivito", un plato típicamente uruguayo, que consiste en un sandwich de lomo con jamón, muzzarella, panceta, huevos, ensaladas y papas fritas... ¡Guau!

    La Posada de Biarritz: La Posada de Biarritz Revisted

    The nightly offerings are few, but are posted on a blackboard outside the Posada, a typical Uruguayan type country restaurant. The restaurant has previously been reviewed on this site, and this is an update. As was previously posted, it is charming with attentive staff. It is also small, featuring only eight tables. However, we went early by Uruguayan standards and were the first ones in for an evening meal. The major change from the previous review of this restaurant is a significant increase in the per person price. Our meal was the featured paella, served with bread. We also indulged in a bottle of an excellent local Tannat. We finished with the only postre offered, an apple crisp served with vanilla ice cream. All the food quality was great, but the cost was 840 pesos, approximately $42. With a normal Uruguayan tip of 10%, the cost was a bit more than $23 per person. This is much greater than the $10 per person in the last review, but the ambience, food and general niceness of the place still makes it worth finding down a little dirt road on a cliff overlooking the beach and the ocean.

    Favorite Dish: The paella, as it is the only dish we have eaten at this restaurant.

    Villa Natura: Lunch or Dinner

    Villa Natura is a complex of bungalows which has a restaurant and pub by the swimming pool. It is an open-air place, and every night during the summertime there are live music shows.

    Villa Natura es un complejo de cabañas que tiene un restaurante y pub junto a la piscina. Es un lugar al aire libre, y cada noche durante el verano hay música en vivo.

    Favorite Dish: Two recommendations: gnocci with four-cheese sauce and pollo al ajillo (chicken with garlic sauce). Both dishes were really delicious!

    Dos recomendaciones: ñoquis con salsa de cuatro quesos y pollo al ajillo. Ambos platos estuvieron deliciosos!

    La Posada de Biarritz: More than a Restaurant Tip... a Must!

    La Posada de Biarritz (Biarritz Inn) is a small inn and restaurant, situated on a cliff, over the sea... It is a magical place, where you can have lunch or dinner looking at the wonderful seascape, listening to some soft music, mixed with the singings of the seagulls and the sound of the waves.
    The restaurant is very cozy, it has just 6 or 8 tables, and a lovely decoration.
    Martín is at the same time the cook and the waiter, and he is a very nice guy.

    La Posada de Biarritz es una pequeña posada y restaurante, situada en un baranco sobre el mar... Es un lugar mágico, en donde s puede almorzar o cenar mirando el maravilloso paisaje, escuchando música suave, mezclada con el canto de las gaviotas y el sonido de las olas.
    El restaurante es muy acogedor, tiene sólo 6 u 8 mesas, y una decoración encantadora.
    Martín es a la vez el cocinero y el camarero, y es un chico de lo más simpático.

    Favorite Dish: There are a few dishes, made by Martín, but all of them are very creative and delicious.
    Once I had codling with shrimp sauce, and another time I had a Thai chicken; in both occasions I had the same dessert: hot apple cake with icecream... Oh, my...

    Hay unos pocos platos, hechos por Martín, pero todos ellos son muy originales y deliciosos.
    Una vez probé la brótola con salsa de mejillones, y otra vez comó pollo thai; en ambas ocasiones, pedí el mismo postre: tarta caliente de manzana con helado... Ah...

    "OtraHistoria" (AnotherStory) is just another story... this is a brand new restaurant situated in Cuchilla Alta. A cozy place, where you can have dinner al fresco, listening to nice music... blues, bossa nova, flamenco... Some nights there is live music.
    While you wait, they give you a pencil and a sheet with puzzles; there is a special place where children can play and paint with bay-sitters, while their parents have dinner.

    "OtraHistoria" es otra historia... Un restaurante recién inaugurado en Cuchilla Alta. Un lugar acogedor, en donde se puede senar al aire libre, escuchando música suave... blues, bossa nova, flamenco... Algunas noches hay música en vivo.
    Mientras esperas, te dan un lápiz y una hoja con juegos para resolver; hay un lugar especial en donde los niños pueden jugar y pintar bajo la supervisión de unas chicas, mientras los padres cenan.

    Favorite Dish: I had a picada: meat, chicken, noisette potatoes, onion rings, little brochettes, homemade bread and some dips, and some wine.

    Comí una picada: carne, pollo, papitas noisette, aros de cebolla, mini-brochettes, pan casero y varias salsas, y bebí vino.
