Places to eat in Departamento de Montevideo

This is a place in 'chi-chi" Carrasco Norte on the corner of Avenida Gral. Rivera and Costa Rica, a few blocks from the "Rambla". The owners are a lovely couple and if you are single and want to go to a place that makes you feel safe in the dark and comfortable walking in alone...this is it! The ambience is Irish Pub with lots of dark wood, a high tin ceiling and inside/outside dining. They open at 8pm and close around 1am, and there is no dancing, but it is a great place to mett someone and talk. The bar area is small and the bar stools are so tall that your feet swing about 3 feet above the floor. The food is delicious and the drinks are moderate to high priced. A draft beer is the cheapest at 40 pesos. Families with children of all ages are welcome!! Smoking outside ONLY. There is an amazing looking casino nearby, but as of 4/22/07 it was still closed for renovation. A discoteque about a block away was also closed while i was there.
