Probably the most famous ice-cream shop in Tacuarembó is "Bora Bora"; a nice and cosy place, with delicious icecreams, clearly cheaper than in Montevideo.
Favorite Dish: I have cream with chocolate chips, and "dulce de leche" with walnuts (as usual!)

This is not a recommendation about a "real" restaurant, but a way of having lunch... Close to the city (just a few blocks from downtown), but in the middle of the nature, there is a beautiful park, with tables and benches under the trees... So get some food anywhere, and take it to this park, and enjoy your meal hearing the birds!
