by lagunamonte

You have to be in Punta del Este,Uruguay. Specially at spring time if you like calm or summmer time if you are looking for fun.You have very beautifull beaches, spectacular houses, and very beautifull landscapes. You can rent a car and go to Jose Ignacio, La Barra, Casapueblo en Solanas to see a very particular architecture in the hotel of by Paez Vilaro, an artist. The best place for a nice and chip accomodattion is the Playa Hotel (with ocean view, breakfast, swimming pool, iit cost around U$S 56 per doble room from April to October. The sunset at Solanas beach, it really get throw in to the ocean, and then everybody clap theirs hands.

Manos del Uruguay

by Bjorgvin

Visit the shops of Manos del Uruguay. For several decades Uruguay has been a source of richly colored hand knits, created by a hand knitting co-operative called Manos del Uruguay (Hands of Uruguay). The wool is treated according to rural traditional methods and then used to make rugs and tapestries, sweaters, shawls, scarves etc.

by LEANDRO

Uruguay it is an amazing country, with really nice a tasty food, I have to say that I was really impress with the meat, red meat basically, but the asados( barbecues) are really yummy, chorizos(uruguayan sausage)and morcilla(black sausage)In the other hand if you going to Uruguay, Montevideo you need to visit El Mercado del Puerto (Dock Market) which it is an very old Train Station converted to an amazing food market, everyday opens, and with a expectacular food court of differents Uruguayan traditional meals!!! The people is the most interesting thing to found out about Uruguay, really friendly and chatting and the building and social life, especially the nightlife it is amazing

I have my fondest memory of this country, because of little things. When I was going to Uruguay from Buenos Aires, I was waiting for the 'Aliscafo', I dont know in English, what you call this boat. It goes over the water in some sort of skies. Some guy approach me and a girl that was sitting next to me and waiting for the ship, we started talking, we became instant friends, once we got to Colonia in Uruguay, He had his car parked, and took us to Montevideo, not only that, but he found a hotel for me, really nice and comfortable for like $15 a night! Meeting the nicest people everywhere I went. Honestly, this was one of the nicest experiences in all my trips.

Uruguay, does not have any famous castle or museums, yet it is state of mind. Punta del Este is a very famous resort in this part of the world, at least Omar Shariff think so. Wonderful people gracious and kind. Excellent food, especially if you like 'beef'. The best sweaters this side of the Atlantic.

Visit the beautiful beaches...

by Alicia.

Visit the beautiful beaches all along the coast of Montevideo. Being the capital of the country and also a summer resort is certainly and advantage not many cities in the world enjoy. Daytime or nightime is an exciting experience just strolling on its romantic streets, evocative of european flair. The clean air, the beach and its people only tell you once you know them, you must return! And if your taste goes for someting typically uruguayan , you can enjoy 'La Doma' in the month of April when the most selected bovines ,sheep and equines are marked and Broncos are tamed in an unforgettable show of tradition and and beauty. You will get acquainted with its folklore, the Gauchos (cowboys)and the delicious 'asado con cuero' (barbequed beef with the hide on), one of the delicacies of that event. Enjoy!

Having only been in Montivideo...

Having only been in Montivideo for a day, there is not a great deal to say. We hired a young man to take us here and there and all the pictures are places that we actually saw. The drive and visit to Ponte de Este was most enjoyable and scenic. Plus, the driver was a real comedian who felt compelled to keep us entertained. The picture is from their Independence Square. Plaza Indepencia. These are very common throughout all of South America. They are BIG on Horses.IntroductionUruguay may be pint-sized but it's certainly big-hearted when it comes to attractions. It contains one of South America's most interesting capitals, charming colonial towns and a cluster of internation-ally renowned beach resorts.
