The bar has a wonderful romantic story : opposite the old jail, a young lady used to live in a flat above the bar and became in love with one of the prisoner whom she saw everyday in the courtyard of the prison. When he finished his time in jail, they married, bought the bar and dance tango for ever......... Nice..........true or false, no important.

most clubs on Urugay get peak from mognight to 2. and they work till 6am. after 2am, they play Salsa. some Americans get sick of this but those latinas get more excited when they move with Salsa misic. if you have time, practice Salsa. They dance very well. Leave a Comment Theme: Nightclub

Year to year, the atmosphere changes. If you happen to hit a boring year, you can always check out the nightlife in nearby Atlantida and Piriapolis. Since these are much bigger resort towns, you have a lot of bars, nightclubs and discos to choose from.
Back in Cuchilla Alta, the one place that is likely to be open year after year is the local Nautical Club. In recent years, it has attracted quite a young crowd on the weekends in the summer. I'd say the average age range there is 14-19. If you don't mind hanging with the kiddies, it can actually be fun (after several liters of beers, that is). Lots of cumbia, rock nacional and popular Brazilian music. And if dancing isn't quite your thing, you can stay at the main bar, play pool, or drink a beer and have a pizza (with faina! mmmm) on the outdoor balcony.

'MARIACHI' is another place to be on Saturday and Sunday, plenty of latino, salsa, live bands and nice drinks.
Gays: you got a few places to go around the city area

Otherwise you can always try a really mix Pub call
'Millenium' at Juan Carlos Gomez St
you going out around 1.00am, take a bus there or a taxi and have a really good night out, plenty of music, latino music and great Uruguayan bands like 'Monterrojo', 'Chocolate, ' Los Nietos', get a Cd of them!!!!
