El Fogon   Montevideo

Confiteria 'La Pasiva': Confiteria 'La Pasiva'

by Popol_Vuh

They have reasonable priced lunch specials, good quantity, excellent quality and taste. Great for back-packers ! Also try the 'flan casero' (kind of caramel pudding). No need of reservation. You must know that there are other 'La Pasiva' restaurants in all Montevideo (I don't know for the rest of Uruguay, just ask for the closer one ! Definitely 'Panchos' ! Girls will have one (to keep the line ...) but I have seen boys betting on who could eat more ... and believe me or not, I am talking of more than 10 !! They are delicious.

In Uruguay the food are good and the restaurant arecleaning,. You can drink the water withaut problem. The principal food is the meat, but you can eat annyfood. In Montevideo the restaurantes are inexpensives in general, but in Punta del Este all is very expensive. Is a distinguished and refined place, whit luxury restaurant. but, you can have a good dinner or lunchin Avenue Gorlero for less money. I think U$S 20 or 30for person. I like eat the 'chivito'. It is meat 'lomo' very delicious

Mercado del Puerto at...

Mercado del Puerto at 1553-1557 Perez Castellano St, located in La ciudad vieja,(old city) recomending Ristorante-Parrilla-Paela: 'La Pentola' or 'La Pradera' which has really nice people serving you!!!Prices are in a different range I would say from 12 to $15, a coffee cost around U$1.50Packet of cigarretes ( if you smoke goes around U$1.80, try Nevada lights or Nevada best brand!!!Dont you forget when you are there, to drink 'Grapa Miel' is a really nice drink, to serve straight or on the rocks!!! Asado( Uruguayan grill) simply the best, have a nice cold Sangria, with 'Promolone Cheese' and Chorizo, have a really nice glass of wine (medio y medio) and enjoy the music and people
