Casapueblo has the workshop of well known Uruguayan artist, Carlos Paez Vilaro.
His collection has paintings, sculptures, and pottery.
The workshop is open daily and entrance is free of charge.

Plan to arrive around 5pm, you will be directed to view a film of the artists life. Then you can have a look around all 3 floors of the museum. There are t-shirts, books and reprints of his painting for sale.

Do not miss the sunset ceremony. There is a bar where you may have tea or a cocktail. Then as the sun begins to set, everyone migrates out on the terraces to look out over the ocean.
    Just magical.

Punta del Este is located on the southern end of Uruguay. It is 125km from MVD airport to Punta. It even has its own airport (PDP) and you may fly here from Buenos Aires. Punta del Este is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Uruguay.

You will find white sand, sunshine, clear water, and beautiful people. The climate is mild, 25C to 32C (75F-90F) in summer and the winter temps never go below freezing.

Punta is divided into two parts, Playa Mansa(Quiet beach) and Playa Brava(Rough Beach).
It has modern buildings, top hotels, restaurants, and nightlife.

The famous sculpture known as "The hand on the Sand" can be seen on the beach.

The resort town of Jose Ignacio is just a few miles up the beach road from Punta del Este.
It is small, only 40 blocks, but it has everything that Punta has to offer except the nightlife.
People come here mostly for the beaches, fishing, and the birds. The town is surrounded by several acres of lagoons, making it a birders paradise. It is also a good place to see the Right Whales as they pass off shore.
Jose Ignacio was just a fishermen's village until people started hearing about the great restaurants and wonderful fresh seafood here.
At the tip of the peninsula of Jose Ignacio is a lighthouse. It was built in 1877. You can climb to the top where the views are amazing.

In Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay one can find the “Cerro de Montevideo.” This “Cerro,” which means hill in Spanish, is located across the bay from the city.Atop the Cerro there is a fortress called the Museo Militar Fortaleza General Artigas (Fortress General Artigas Military Museum). This fortress was constructed in 1808, the last military construction build during the colonial period. It was not intended to be part of the city’s defense; rather its purpose was to protect the lighthouse.

Great to visit for an hour or two. Beautiful view of the city.

TIP: Go there in taxi. If you do go in bus make sure you are with a local, and dress down. The area below the cerro is not exactly one of Montevideo's finest areas. But don't get scared off - nothing happens around the fortress since it is guarded by the Uruguayan military.

When visiting Montevideo, you absolutely have to take a stroll down the Rambla, or the seaside drive. My personal favorite is to go from Punta Carretas up to Buceo. It is really a beautiful walk, especially on Sunday afternoons when tons of people go and sit and drink mate or lay at the beach.

A place without electricity... you can see a sky crowded with stars. A place full of nature!
This is a virgin beach northeast in Uruguay. You shouldn`t miss it. There are many atractions and in your way from Montevideo or Punta del Este to Cabo Polonio you can visit also "Punta del Diablo", "Valizas", etc. GREAT ALMOST VIRGIN BEACHES FULL OF YOUNG PEOPLE.
Night life in this beach is different. There are not big discos. Instead you can find litlle pubs whith music, great food, great view and nice people.

San Antonio Hill is one of the most picturesque spots on the Uruguayan coast. It is a natural icon of Piriapolis resort town.

It can be reached by chair lifts from the port area. a long hike, or you can drive up in your car to the top.
On the way up, you will see a statue of the Fisherman's Virgin, on a small platform, overlooking the sea.
At the top you will see the port, the bay, the center of town, and the surrounding hills.
If you stay until evening the sunset is spectacular from here.

Besides the views you will find souvenir shops, a restaurant with swimming pool, and a small chapel with a statue of San Antonio.

Cerro del Toro or Bull's Hill is the second highest hill surrounding Piriapolis.
If you have always wanted to be see a BIG bull up close then don't miss this sight.
From the parking area you can see this bronze bull spouting water, like a waterfall.
If you walk up a few steps you will be able to touch it, ride it, or get a drink.
This is a 3000 kg statue shipped there from Paris.

If you are feeling entergetic then climb up the remaining stairs for a better view of the surroundings. You will also see a statue of a big cat.

    There are camping sites nearby.
