View from the cable
  • Tip Rating:
  • It gives you great view of parts of Venezuelan Andes and its thick rain forest while you crossing over three mountain tops. I particularly liked the ‘fern’. Reminded me of home.

    Food & Drinks
  • Tip Rating:
  • You are not allowed to take food or drinks in car. But bottled drinks / water are allowed. I had to finish my can cola before I could get into the car again.

  • Climb the Avilar (sp?) mountain.
Every Sunday it would seem that the locals take the tour up the mountain.
Beware, if you are unfit or have only just arrived you must take it easy the air is very thin compared to sea level.
An amazing view of the whole of Caracas.

  • Tip Rating:
  • I took a 1 week Spanish course at the Centro Venezolano de Espanol. It was located near the Plaza Venezuela. In the picture, you can see the Philips Building which is where the classes were held.
Customized course for the short time I would be there so that I could brush up on my Spanish skills.

    El Hatillo: El Hatillo
  • Tip Rating:
  • Buildings constructed and painted in the old Venezuelan style. This neocolonial town, located 9 miles (15km) southeast of downtown, is a great place to spend a few leisurely hours and grab a meal.
They also have a large shop with handmade souvenirs called HANNSI http://www.hannsi.com.ve/

Buses run between Caracas and El Hatillo at regular intervals throughout the day. Por puestos leave from Avenida Humbolt near the Chacaito metro stop; the fare is 250Bs (30˘). Metro bus route 202, beginning near the Altamira metro station, also goes to El Hatillo; the fare is 360Bs (50˘). A taxi to El Hatillo should cost around 7,000Bs ($9.75).
