    Caracas Off The Beaten Path

German town up in the mountains of Venezuela. Kind of a small, quant town on the other side of a rain forest (road goes thru a small portion). If you are in the mood for schnitzel and beer-this is the place to go. Lots of bavarian type of bulidings, gardens, etc.

It's a small town but very cozy. There are several handicraft shops with the nicest things! The day I was there there were some performers in the Plaza Bolivar.... And seemed like a very family thing to do on Sundays, just to hang out on the square, have some coffee in the nearby cafés... Nice place.

The most popular island is called Sombrero. You can go snorkelling here. The water is clear blue and my pictures do not do it justice.

In Venezuela we call them "coro-coros". If you are really lucky, you will get to see a couple of them at the "Parque del Este" (park and zoo) right in the middle of the city. But to see 281437436421299353459348589 millions of them, flying at the same time, and turning the whole sky trully shocking pink, you must go to the south of the country. Is a...

El Araguaney (the Araguaney) is our national tree. You never notice it is there until this season: february-march. All the leaves fall down and the only thing that remains on the tree are very yellow bright beautiful flowers. It is a big tree and is breathtaking. Be sure to take pictures. In kindergarden we sing this song "En el patio, en el...
