You can go to Choroni in auto but you must be careful since the way is realy narrow and with lot of curves So I would advice to drive slowly for the first time.
If you do not go in auto, you have to get to the terminal in Maracay City and take a cab or bus to the town. They are available everyday.
Choroni is a 2.5 h drive away from Caracas pasing the town of Maracay. It will take around 45 minutes to an 1 hour to reach Maracay depending on the traffic and then you must drive 56 Km through the mountain to reach Choroni or Puerto Colombia.
Maracay is well served by buse routes from main cities in Venezuela then you can take a local bus service to Choroni-Pto Colombia from the main terminal station ( South of Avenida Constitucion). Buses leave every 2h hours with a last service at 17:00
At the Embarcadero is were you take the Peñeros go to the different beaches…….
A Peñero to the beaches can cost around of 60.000Bs (30$) but it varies from the distance of the beach that you are going. The price it is a roundtrip and for the trip. Not by person, what I recommend is to make groups of 4 people and the cost will by 15,000Bs (7$) by person
You can go driving or by bus, the way is very interesting, ones you get to Maracay you have to past a mountain that it calls the National park Henri Pittier it will take you 1 hour and half to get to Choroni. The road it has a very nice landscape it is forest vegetation and changes.
However the way is very narrow, the way have closed curves, in the other side it is a precipice. At several points only one car can past, what they do it is to touch bugle, to warn the conductors that you are passing. It is scary I recommend not to speed go slowly and to enjoy the way Choroni is worth the trouble well
Tinned sardines "Sardinas enlatadas" it is a expresion for a place that was full, we take the truck/bus from the town Chuao to the Beach
For 500 Bs you have a transportation from/to Chuao twon
