by Saringuis El Agua is one of the preferred beaches is Margarita. It is large, has many palm trees, a lot of sand, food service, entertainment, etc. Without nobody stablishing it, there are three zones. The beginning of the beach is where local people go: prices tend to be cheaper. The middle zone is more family and toursit oriented and the end is where all the youth meet. However, no matter where you decide to stay, walk along the beach. You will enjoy it. Like in other beaches, at El Agua there are kiosks. Find out what services they provide. In general it will be chairs, shades and a restaurant. In others you might have fresh water to take a shower when leaving. Leave a Comment

What a Sunset! by luckytip Well i have seen a few remarks about the excursions offered on the island but none about the Orinoco Delta, they offer a 2 day excursion which i know may seem expensive at approx £200 per person but folks believe me when i say it is a must! I will remember it for the rest of my life! We visit different countries but do we really see the beauty and different cultures! On this trip we did, We travelled in everything possible from a 32 seater plane to an 8 seater plane, from a coach to a minibus and last but certainly the most exciting their motorised dug out canoe's. This was our honeymoon and obviously wanted it to be memorable and believe me this is one trip you will always remember! We fished for piranhas, caught a crocodile watched the sunset from the boat in the middle of the Orinoco Delta and the finale was an electrical storm, have you ever sat in complete silence in the middle of a huge lake with nothing by lightening above you? Unbelievable. We flew by angel falls which was an amazing site and walked behind the waterfalls. If there is one thing i recommend to anyone visiting Margarita or Venezuela this trip is a once in a life time experience, so dont miss out! Leave a Comment Address: Mainland Venezuela! Orinoco Delta

A small plantation, conuco by fitbod This "park" was a working plantation, or conuco, in Isla Margartia. The farm is run in the traditional farming method of Venezuela. The farm houses several animals, some quite unusual, as well as grows many fruits and vegetables. Of course you are afforded the opportunity to touch, taste and smell all of those....Go on now! give it a try! I had the chance (or misfortune??) to have a Boa Constrictor around my neck!!! YIKES!! (For a good laugh, you must see my photo on my Isla Margarita page!) This farm was interesting anf fun. The guide (a member of the family) was very nice and helpful with answering silly "tourist" questions. As a matter of fact, I met several family members working that day on the farm. Laguna de la Restinga by Jarin It is a wonderful nature excursion to a lagoon and the beach (which is full of shells) of the National Park La Restinga. This lagoon connects the peninsula Macanao with Margarita in the north. You can hire a boat (quite noisy) to explore the labyrinth of mangrove canals, which have various names, such as Jardin de Amores (Garden of Love) or Canal Mi Dulce Amor (Canal of my Sweet Love) and to see fantastic tropical flora and fauna. Playa El Aqua by Jarin Playa El Aqua, north-east of the island, is one of the most known beaches. Palm trees and white sand, calm, crystal clear blue sea, so you can once in a while take a swim to cool down. On this beach you have many restaurants. As this is a large and popular beach, there are many beach vendors coming along to sell you all kinds of articles, starting from fresh coconut, fruit, sun glasses, swimming wear, all kind of clothing, souvenirs – you name it, they sell it. It sounds quite disturbing but it isn't, just do not pay attention they pass by. When we arrived, at abt 10.00 o'clock, the beach was practically empty, as you can see on the picture, however within one/two hour(s) the beach was pleasantly crowded. Leave a Comment

Juangriego by Jarin This small town is situated at the wonderful bay of Juangriego (Bahía Juangriego). It is full with fishing boats. The sunset is here magnificent and the best place to see it is from the Fortín de la Galera, a small fort on the hill in the bay. It was here where THE Libertador Simón Bolívar set his first steps on the mainland with his troops, when he left his exile on Haiti to start his freedom fight against the Spaniards. However the town is called after the freedom fighter Juan Griego. Leave a Comment

Playa El Yaque by lelyramires The beaches are the best thing in Margarita! My favourite ones (and I gues the most popular ones) were Parguito and El Agua. They are one next to the other and they got good structure, some restaurants around it, which will charge you from 15,000 to 25,000 Bolivares for the beach chair and umbrella - but if you don't bring your own beach umbrella, it's worth paying it for it! the water and sand are clean and nice. In Parguito they have some surf instructors, for the place is great for surfing. I've also been to El Yaque (which is pronounced El Jacke), whic is good for windsurfing - they also got instructors - for the water is plain like a swimming pool and shallow, which is good for kids, or just to relax. the water temperature is also warmer than all the others. I loved it there cuz I could see starfishes (and actually I caught one in my hand - of course I put it back in the water) and little fishes swimming around. I would just like to say that, if you do smoke, please, DO NOT DUMP CIGARRETTE BUTTS ON THE SAND. It is just not polite, respectful and not to mention disgusting. Be a good tourist. Island of Coche... Hummm... Well, I am not the best to talk about it. I went there on a all inclusive boat trip and when we arrived, we stayed at Punta La Playa, which had nothing but a beach volleyball net and the beach chairs with some umbrellas and absolutelly nothing else (not even a bush) that could make a shade from the sun. The beach was great but 1 hour after we arrived many people were arriving with boates, sailboats and jet skies and when I realized the beach was full of dead sea vegetation and jellyfishes (some were already dead on the sand, some still in the water) and they were huge. Volleyball huge, you know. I guess it was cuz of the boats, I don't know... but it kinda ruined the water for me. I hope other people have better luck. Leave a Comment

La Isla de Coche by Jarin Isn't it luxurious? Sitting in swimming pool and looking out to the beach, where you see on the shore your boat (schooner) (if it is just for one day). This small island is abt 10 km south of Margarita. This is a day trip on a small, luxurious boat (schooner for abt. 10 people). You are extremely well taken care of by very friendly personnel (the captain and his girlfriend plus the hostess) and they do everything to make your trip by boat and the several hours stay on the island unforgettable. Museo del Mar by Jarin Boca del Rio is a small fishing village in south of peninsula Macanao. Museo del Mar is a small, but a nice museum where you can see the life of the ocean (coral, skeletons of various fishes). Leave a Comment
