Is the capital of the island. Here you will find the oldest church in all south amerika, it´s from 1599 and the fortress Santa Rosa from 1683, but La Asuncion is not the place to go shopping.

Porlamar is the biggest city on the island. It´s a good place to shop and there is a big mall too. But the prices are not much cheaper if u are looking for real brands.

The mall in Porlamar called Sambil.

These beaches are indeed very nice - if you are prepared to face the main tourism spot on the island including annoying columbians trying to sell necklaces, carved items and drugs...

    Plaza Bolivar in Porlamar

    by Josch37 Written Dec 10, 2004

One of the nicest places in Porlamar. Besides plenty of shopping opportunities there are not a lot of exciting sites....but as the island´s bus hub its a good place to start and look around.

Part of the trip to Angel falls is the stop at El sapo water falls, where you have a chance to go swiming.

There is a national parc (Restinga) which was beautiful, lots of mangroves with a beautiful faune, like red starfishes and funny fish. The parc is embedded in a tropical flora.
