The University of Carabobo is spread out, but buses pass through regularly. I took time to visit the social science building in particular, but there are now many other new buildings under-construction. I once attended the International Convention of the English as a Second Language organization in Valencia, which was hosted by the English department at the University of Carabobo. So, I had a chance to bum around a bit with the leading professors there before and after the convention. This would be good place to start for those planning to live in Venezuela for awhile and teach English.

    Daily Garbage Pick-up in Naguanagua

On municipal service that was superior to American standards was the daily garbage pick-up. Conventional garbage trucks came by everyday to dispose of whatever bags of trash were on the curb. This frequency makes sense for a tropical country where food waste rots very quickly.

    High School Parade

Venezuelan high school students follow many of the same practices as American students do. However, public schools are not as widely respected and attended as in the USA. Rather, many middle class students go to smaller private high schools. Along Avenida Principal La Campiña, I saw a parade of public school marching musicians, cheerleaders and soccer players, presummably celebrating an upcoming tournament.
