La Playela
  • Tip Rating:
  • La Playelita is a wonderful beach on a kayo (key) about 20 minutes from Tucacas. The cayo's name is Paiclas, and the Playela is on the same just before the Playelita. There's a fantastic beach and a crystal clear lagoon, and some little trees under which you can find some shadow. The boats dock just behind la Playela - you step off and you're already in heaven. There's no restaurant on La playela, but there are a couple of fishermen who'll come by and offer you freshly-caught oysters and shellfish. Bring your own drinks, though - no one sells them.

    La Playelita
  • Tip Rating:
  • La Playelita is a little beach on a kayo (key) about 20 minutes from Tucacas. The cayo's name is Paiclas, and the Playelita is the northnmost island. There's a little beach restaurant there, where you can eat, and a tiny beach and lagoon in the shade of several palm trees. There's no place for boats to dock at La Playelita: you stop at La Playela and then walk for 5 minutes to reach the Playelita.

    Mangrove Channels
On your way to the cayos you'll have to sail by some mangrove channels. If your lanchero decides he likes you, for no extra fee he'll sail you right into the mangrove channels... it's an experience that will awaken three of your senses. Your sight - since you'll be seeing many wonderful birds (red ibis included), your hear, because those birds are definitely not a silent bunch, and your smell... the birds poo everywhere and stink... the water is still and stinks, too. Smelly, beautiful birds...
