This could be a shopping tip, but the real joy in visiting this place is browsing among the weaver's workshops. Cotton is the primary fiber used, although some wool is also employed on the looms. The colorful heavy cord cotton hammocks and blankets are impressive for both their softness and bulk. The town itself is a sleepy pueblo in this desert region of Venezuela. We saw tumble weeds of sort clinging to the powerlines along the street, and some new construction designed to eventually lure tourists to the area.
