Puerto Nuevo in Yaguaracual is a neat find. Not much is happening there any more but if you go early in the morning you can surely find a boat to take you out to the islands. But the spot itself is just magical. It's a tiny natural bay surrounded by mangroves that looks across to the other side of the peninsula. Neat just to stop and see.
Look for the sign on the left about 20 km past Santa Fe on the way to Cumana. There aren't many other landmarks around except maybe the new school for Yaguaracual.
From Santa Fe take the bus (500bolivares) in front of the panaderia of the bus terminal (you may have to queue) going in direction of Puerto La Cruz. It?s only a 10 minutes ride away and really nice. You can spend a day there.
The same bus will take you to playa arapito... just 15 minutes away f rom santa fe
I was expecting lots of people but nothing compared to florida or the south of france. It?s lovely and quiet. The sea is warm and not too wavy.
You have a food stand selling empanadas, water and beer. And the possibility of renting long chairs if you don?t want to put sand on your towel
