Besides Los Roques, Mochima National Park is another great and must see place to visit. Located between Puerto La Cruz and Cumaná is the National Park which has different awesome beaches such as Playa Colorada (Colored Beach)... its name come from the redish color of the sand. This park is surrounded by many different small island, many of them completely inhabitated and able to be visited by boat(peñeros), this service is offered by the local fishermen for a very fairly rate and it's easy to arrange the time they will come to pick you up when you want to leave the island.Tours around all the islands is also available if you arrange a good rate with the fishermen. The amazing view in mochima is the strange combination of mountains and beaches together... it looks like the end of the world when you're actually there...

by pat110

take a tour into the interior of Venzeuela to see Angel Falls. This all day trip flys into the Indian Village of Canaima which is a base camp for hiking to the falls. It is a 3 day hike from this point but if you've chosen the one day tour, you'll have a fly-by of Angel Falls. This magnificent waterfall is the tallest uninterrupted waterfall in the world, falling 3,212 feet to the floor below. In Canaima, your tour includes a ride in a 35'long dugout canoe across a body of water which has 5 waterfalls thundering into it -- a spectacular site. The picture to the left is one of the falls in Canaima. At the other side, you hike through the jungle to a point where another waterfall, made famous in the movie 'Last of the Mohicans' waits for you. If you are brave enough (I wasn't), you can follow a narrow ledge between the mountain and the wall of water pounding down from above. A single-file...

by elmasri

Arrange a trip to Margarita Island. Domestic flights depart daily and the ferry from Puerto La Cruz takes you to Punta de Piedra. I visited Porlamar, where if I remember correctly I went shopping in Calle 4 de Mayo. I loved the atmosphere there. The beaches, at La Galera (see picture) and Playa el Água specially. The town of Juan Griego, where everyone I met was from Lebanon. No spanish spoken here... amazing! Even my breakfast was served arabic style, foul (fava beans deliciously cooked and sprinkled with tomatoes sliced very small), labne (cheese made from yogurt), other cheeses, tea and the huge round bread would put any pitta bread in the UK to shame.

Eat Arepas. Specifically, Reina Pepiada. Yes, Flor they are very good. I had them three times before I left. Also Cachapas are very good. I tried the Queso Guatanes. Mmmmmm....In Caracas do not be in a hurry if you are driving. There is always a traffic jam. It was some of the worst traffic that I have seen. The friendly people.
