Besides the city of Caracas,...

by Luis_Alberto

Besides the city of Caracas, the Capital of Venezuela. Quite a beautiful and impressive city. A trip to Canaima, the location of Angel's Fall, (world's highest waterfall) Its waters drop 979 meters (3,212 ft). Another great trip is to Merida on the Venezuelan Andes. Of course do not forget some of the best beaches in the Caribbean. The beauty of the land, and the friendliness of its people.

Take time to see the natural beauty. My husband and I took an all-day trip into a natioanl park (name to be found in the future) that was wonderful! We had been so saddened by the garbage along the coast and the poor city that getting into the park was the best part of our trip.

La Gran Savana es el parte de Venezuela lo mas magnifico que he visto. At night you can see so many stars. I never tought that I could ever see that much stars at once. The thing I miss the most about Venezuela are Arepes. Es la case mas buena que he comido en mi vida.

We went to Margarita Island, Venezuela. It was beautiful. We traveled there for a week of Windsurfing at the Vela resort in El Yaque. The windsurfing was awesome - excellent for advanced sailers and beginners. For a break in your schedule take a boat to El Coche for a day of windsurfing. I miss sitting under the tiki umbrella drinking pina coladas in the afternoon.

Catchment basin of Orinoco river. The Orinoco delta is a vast, intricate labyrinth of waterways weaving through a simmering jungle to carry the waters of the Orinoco to the Atlantic Ocean. The Orinoco Delta - the landmass now known as Delta Amacuro State - has formed over the course of thousands of years as the mighty river has deposited millions of tonnes of sediment into the ocean. Over the last century alone, some 1,000km² has been added to the delta, which continues to extend into the Atlantic at a rate of 40m per year over its entire 360km coastline. The Orinoco branches off into over 60 caños (waterways) and 40 rivers which diffuse through 41,000km² of forested islands, swamps and lagoons.

by La_Gringa

You must stay at the Golden Rainbow Maremares Hotel. Everything works which is unusual in Venezuela and is relatively safe. While there, tell Cotufa Malave that I am researching his next tee shirt. The band, K-Kao is great. My fondest memory is being on a plane (Rutaca) which lost an engine over Gran Sabana. I really miss being an unwitting risk taker when I am away from Venezuela.

This animated guy was promoting an upcoming bullfight in Merida. After I grabbed my trusty camera, he was all too happy to be my subject ...flailing his arms and spouting his shtick in Spanish.
