the port of Vulcan 10 km away
this is where you would come to catch a boat to the delta. On wednesdays there is the govt owned slow boat whcih may take up to eight hours but only 4 usd. for this river journey of 70 miles. private boats may charge you up to 100 usd. generally the less touristy you look the better but some boats leaving will take you on if they have space and you just give them some thing little for the trip. perhaps about 5usd.

At vulcan the market scene is hectic like everywhere else but amenities are lacking such as public toilets. that is where this restaurant comes in handy. order a coffee sit down and sip it and if you wish to use the bathroom you may and it is reasonably clean. especially after a long boat trip you may wish a cup of coffee and use a clean toilet
Internet and long distance telephony
Cantv has offices which are open until 8 pm where you could put your name down to use the internet as there are always lines of people waiting to use it. but the waits are not that long, perhaps twenty minutes which you could profitably spend sipping a cafe pequeno next door.
there are facilities to call all over venezuela and abroad. it is better to buy telephone cards to make international calls as they tend to be cheaper
