Trip to Angel Falls..by canoe and foot
Angel Falls, the world's highest, can be seen on an all day trip. Before daybreak, you head out on a canoe down the tea colored Carrao river. At some point you are likely to have to walk on land to another portion of the river..this is because of low water levels at certain times of the year. This walk is where mosquito repellant is worth it's weight in gold. The pooty-pooty as the locals call them (bloodthirsty mosquitos) are ravenous. BRING REPELLANT ! After your walk, you are back on a canoe again. The landscape is impressive, with the tepuys (flat top mountains), greenery, and tea-like river. Finally, you come to a point where you start an uphill hike. It will be muddy here, so bring your worst shoes. The hike lasts around 2 hours or so (the way back downhill is much easier of course).
